Record Breaking Weekend

A big thank you to all the Officials & Volunteers who ensured a very smooth running of the 123.ieAAI Masters Indoor Champs in Athlone on Sunday 5th Feb. Many fine performances on the day, highlighted by Joe Gough M70 of West Waterford A.C. setting a European Masters Indoor 800m record (subject to ratification) when clocking 2.24.01. Ronan will have a busy few days trawling through all the results and updating any records set on the day.

123.ie AAI Masters CC Champs will be held in Gowran on Sunday 12th Feb, so look forward to another large turnout of Master Athletes. We will also have a small number of commerative tee shirts left over from the British & Irish Masters CC Champs on sale on the day. These might be of particular interest to the Athletes who were selected for the various teams last Nov, as all Athletes who competed from the 5 Nations had their names engraved on the back. A unique tee shirt, more so as both our Women’s & Men’s Teams won the overall Championships for the very first time.

Entries for WMA Indoor Champs in Torun closed earlier last week with a record breaking 144 Irish Master entrants, making us the 8th largest team entered. A Torun Whats App group has been set up to allow legitimate information to be shared. Lucy Moore has also kindly offered to set up a talk on anti-doping and the requirement on Athletes to be fully compliant with the rules. Please keep an eye on both this site & Whats App Group and we will set up a date in the coming weeks.

Please note that IMAA AGM is scheduled for Sat 25th Feb @ 3pm in Donore Hrs Clubhouse, Chapelizod. A number of key positions will need to be filled including President & Sec, so it is important that as many as possible attend. Nominations & motions need to be forwarded to current Sec @ michaelfennell88@gmail.com by Friday 17th Feb. I am not in a position to carry on, though am happy continue on in the incoming Committee, if nominated, but unfortunately, I have to take some time out over the coming months. I have informed current Committee & appreciate their support with my decision.

Mike Fennell

President/Sec IMAA
