Congratulations to all those Athletes who competed with such distinction at recent World Masters T & F Champs in Daegu, South Korea. As a result of medals won, Team Ireland finished a highly creditable 23rd overall in the medals table & 10th European Nation. A very successful haul by the Team. Thanks to Ronan for providing the breakdown below & also to Stephen Monagehan who published a detailed report of all Irish performances in the Irish Masters Home & Awat WhatsApp group. As a result of these Champs, Ronan updated Master’s records on the website. Any amendments or omissions, please contact Ronan directly

We would like to wish every success to the small band of Masters Athletes who are travelling onto Rosnov, Romania this coming weekend for European Mountain Champs.

Re forthcoming 1 mile Road Race including AAI 1 Mile Champs, hosted by Marino A.C. on Griffith Ave Sunday 20th Sept. there appears to be some ambiguity re the awarding of Master Champ medals. To clarify, the motion presented & passed at last years AAI Congress only referenced “Senior Championship” which was approved. In order for Masters Champ medals to be included in any future hosting of this Champ event, then a motion has to be put forward by a club to their County Board & if approved there, then this can go forward as a motion to be discussed & voted upon at next AAI Congress in 2027. This is the same procedure that applied for the provision of additional events to be included at recent AAI Masters T & F Champs, which were approved.

A brief mention here also re forthcoming British & Irish Masters Champs, which will be hosted by IMAA here in Abbottstown on Sat 13th Nov. Trial for selection to the various teams will be held in conjunction with the AAI Autumn CC which will also be run over the Abbottstown course on Sunday 18th Oct. Advised by AAI that link will be open shortly for online entries. Please see details below. As hosts, we hope to put out the strongest Teams possible over all the age groups from 35 to 75 inclusive. So please, relay the message to any Athlete who may not be familiar with the event & who you feel could make any of those teams. Further selection details will be shared in the next few posts.
