Congratulations to Anne Gilshinan, Middle Distance & Women W40 4 x 100 (Avril Dillon, Kathryn McDevitt, Snezana Bechtina & Sinead Regan), who were named as 2022 winners of their respective categories by EMA Council over the weekend. Anne had the added honour of been named best overall Female Athlete. This caps a brilliant 2022 for IMAA Athletes who competed with such distinction last year. Indeed we had numerous nominations over many categories and would like to thank Committee members who compiled extensive background information for all our nominations. Given the success achieved in Torun over the past few weeks, hopefully we can look forward to more winners for 2023.
AAI Congress also took place over the weekend and would like to congratulate IMAA President, George Maybury who topped the poll and was successfully elected onto Finance & Risk Committee. IMAA Committee members, George together with Sean McMullin & Mick Fennell were in attendance in their capacity as delegates for their respective counties. Pleased to announce that all motions relating to Masters Athletics were passed successfully. Of particular attention was motion 42 relating to blocks and false starts. Rule now aligned to WMA. A word of thanks also to Thomas McGrane Louth Delegate who spoke on other motions in relation to Pentathlon events, which were also passed. One other final one from Connaught which will ensure that mixed relays will be introduced on the track. Competition Comm will review and see where these can be accommodated.
