A busy last weekend with European Masters T & F Champs ending in Maderia on Sunday with trials also taking place here in Abbottstown for Team selection to British & Irish Masters CC Champs, scheduled for Roundhay Park in Leeds, Sat 15th Nov. Just a brief mention re Maderia, with over 131 Irish Masters descending on the Island, they duly departed with an incredible haul of 32 Gold, 29 Silver & 20 Bronze medals. With a grand total of 81 medals, this ranked Ireland 8th overall on the medals table, nipping past host Nation Portugal on the final day. A more detailed report will be postedlater today. A big thank you to Team Managers, Anne Gormley & Sean McDermott plus ably assisted by Avril Dillon & Ronan Gately. Also, to Ian Egan who kept all in good shape throughout plus Michael & Maureen Cornyn, who provided photos, videos & post event interviews. Finally, to all those other Athletes & supporters who provided support & encouragement throughout the Champs.
Trial was held last Sunday in Abbottstown for British & Irish Masters Teams, which will be hosted by English Masters in Leeds on Sat 15th Nov. Teams have been selected & all Athletes should have been notified by now, so if you have not received details from International Sec, Pat O’Grady, then please contact him directly @ internationalsecimaa@gmail.com Teams are due to be submitted this Fri 24th Oct to enable LOC to prepare race programme, plus commemorative Champ tee shirts & which will include all nominated Athletes. It is important that you also advise Pat if you are not taking up the offer to compete, so he can then call up any Reserve(s). Please read the details carefully as it is up to each Athlete to book banquet ticket(s), shuttle bus & race tee shirt through the link advised in the email notification.
Wishing all Athletes who are competing in this Sundays Irish Life Dublin Marathon, which will once again incorporate AAI Champs. Any Master Athlete who competed at AAI ½ marathon in Tullamore back in August & have not yet received their champ medal if placed in the top 3 of their age categories, we have been advised by AAI that they will have these medals available for collection at the expo in the R.D.S. for pick up between 1-4 p.m. both days. So, drop by if you happen to be competing & picking up your marathon race no. Any left over after that will eventually be sent onto the clubs of the Athletes.
