It was with deep sadness & regret that we learnt of the passing of another Donore legend, Willie Dunne, over the past few days. Willie was a stalwart of the great Donore teams of the 60s, we could not do justice to all his achievements in this brief piece. Many of you may have seen the post on Irish Masters Home & Away WhatsApp site, of brief interview conducted with Willie in the Donore clubhouse & included some great footage from the Rome Olympics of 1960 which he competed with fellow clubman, Bertie Messitt over the marathon. Willie was also one of the pioneering Veteran Athletes who competed in the very early days of International competition, again performing to the highest standards. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and all his club mates at his beloved Donore Harriers. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam.
