Congratulations to Edel Maguire, Clonliffe Hrs who was named Master Athlete of the Year at AAI Gala Awards last week. Edel has had a fantastic year, winning both World & European titles, as well as continuing to post National records. A worthy winner after 2 previous nominations.

Wed 3rd Dec saw the start of Track & Field live from the NIA in Abbottstown & this kicked off in style with 2 World Records, (subject to ratification) by F40 & M80 4 x 400m relay Teams. The Women clocked a time of 3:57.61 taking just over 6 secs off the existing WR held by U.S.A & Men stopped the clock at 5:26.61 knocking just over 30secs off previous record held by German quartet. A big thank you to the Athletes who travelled, Dublin Athletic Board, David Matthews & all the Officials & Volunteers involved. Am sure Ronan is still browsing through the record books to see what other Athletes he can cajole and attack more records.

Further afield, entries are now open for European Masters Indoor Champs in Torun, which take place between 27th Mar to 2nd Apr 2026. This has proved to be a very popular Champs. for Irish Master Athletes, so we anticipate another huge number of participants travelling. Again, see link below for additional info & entry
