Super Saturday in Tullamore

Congratulations to all Master Athletes who competed at AAI Masters T&F Champs in Tullamore on Sat 12th Aug. Despite the persistent heavy showers and swirling winds, which will invalidate any sprint performances where wind reading was above +2.00m, there was still some fine performances throughout the day. Ronan will be trawling through the results and capturing & updating any records set. A big thank you also to the many Officials & volunteers who endured a very long day. Many of these were also staying on to officiate at National League Finals which were taking place on Sunday at the same venue. Entries have now closed off for Pescara, with final verification approval set for 15th Aug. Therefore it’s important that all who have registered for this Championships are registered members of the IMAA, otherwise your entry may not get approved. Lucy Moore also gave a very informative presentation recently in relation to anti-doping and we would urge all Master Athletes to check this out. As Lucy pointed out at the very start, for all Athletes, “your body, your responsibility” Drug testing did take place earlier this year at AAI Masters Indoor Champs in Athlone, so it is important that all are fully aware & complienent with existing rules. Looking further ahead & for those who are already thinking about the CC season, please note that Athletes who are looking forward to British & Irish Masters CC Champs, hosted this year by Scottish Masters on Sat 11th Nov in Tollcross Park, Glasgow. Team selection will follow trial race held in conjunction with AAI Autumn CC in Abbottstown, Sunday 15th Oct. More details will follow over the coming weeks. George Maybury, President IMAA
