Ernie Caffrey - An Appreciation

Saddened to hear of the death of Ernie Caffrey, Ballina A.C. who passed away peacefully over the weekend, surrounded by his family. Ernie competed over several disciplines & won many titles, competing both at National & International level (including winning a Silver Medal at M80 Long-Jump at World Masters in Perth in 2016). He also served on the IMAA Comm for a good number of years, making the long trip from Ballina to attend regular meetings in Dublin.

Apart from his athletic endeavours, he also served his community as a local Councillor for Fine Gael & was also elected to the Seanad in 1997. One of his proudest moments came when he made a presentation to US President Joe Biden on his visit in 2023.
