Congrats to all Master Athletes who competed in Athlone last Sunday at 123.ie AAI National Masters Indoor Champs. It was great to see so many competing including Athletes from the UK, USA & 3 from Chile. Below report courtesy from AAI & also includes link to full results. A special word of thanks to all the Officials who had a busy weekend with many also officiating the day before at the Nat U20s & U23s Indoor Champs. They ensured that the extensive programme ran pretty much to schedule.
One issue that we have been requested to highlight is the cut off time for Athletes check in. Per competition rules, this would normally be 90mins before Athletes scheduled event. This is to allow time for Athletes to warm up properly, plus also for Officials to draw up lane draws, heats & scheduling, where necessary. Last Sunday, we had some Athletes checking in literally a few minutes before their scheduled start. Fortunately, all were accommodated this time, but we have been advised that at National Masters Outdoors, this will not be tolerated. Athletes may be facilitated up to one hour before their event start, but once check in closes, any Athlete turning up after that will not be allowed to compete. These rules are strictly applied elsewhere. Reminders will be posted closer to next Champs.
Next up is European Masters Indoor Champs which will take place in Torun, commencing end of March. More updates will be posted prior to commencement of this Champs. Athletes can get a flavour of this venue as World Athletics Indoor Champs will be taking place at this venue this coming weekend, so please tune in.
European Masters non Stadia will take place in Catania, Sicily from 30th Apr to 3rd May , registration will close on 10th April, please see link below.
