The CC season drew to a close in Castlelyons, Cork last Sunday as the local club, St Nicholas A.C. hosted a very successful programme & busy schedule on the day, with a good number of Juvenile, Masters & Intermediate AAI Championships. In the Masters CC, local Cork Athletes, Lizzie Lee F40 of Leevale A.C. led the field home in the Womens race, followed by Sinead O’Connor F35 also of Leevale A.C & Barbara Cleary F45, Donore Harriers. Other Ind winners were, Carmel Crowley F50, Bandon A.C., Niamh O’Sullivan F55, Riocht A.C. Ann Tobin F60, Trim A.C. Pauline Moran F65, Mayo A.C. Margaret Glavey F70, Mayo A.C. & Maggie Dunne F75, Grange Fermoy. This race also included the M65 plus & Ind. Winners were, Martin McDonald M65, Ballyroan & Abbeyleix Dist. A.C. Martin McEvilly M70, G.C.H. Gerry Lynch M75, City of Derry A.C. & Tony Dunne M80, Grange Fermoy.

In the Mens Masters, Tim O’Donghue M35, East Cork was an impressive winner, with other Ind wins for Michael Harty M40, East Cork, Paddy O’Toole M45, Westport A.C. Vivian Foley M50, Eagle A.C. Pauricc McKinney M55, Inishowen A.C. & Kevin Griffin M60, An Riocht A.C. Congratulations to all who competed. Hopefully we will see you all later in the year, as you try out at CC trials for selection to British & Irish Masters CC Teams. Please note that IMAA will host the event this year in Santry, so important that we field strong Teams throughout all the age groups.

A special word of thanks to the host club, who by all accounts, pulled out all the stops & hosted a very successful day. Also to the Officials & Volunteers who freely gave their time on the day, your commitment is very much appreciated.

Wish all those who are travelling to Braga over the next few days, every success in your events. Given the very long break since a last major International Championships, guess that the excitement is mounting up as you prepare to compete.

Don’t forget IMAA AGM, which will be held in Donore Hrs Clubhouse on Sat 5th Mar, commencing @ 2:30pm.
