A hearty congratulations to all who competed in European Masters Indoors in Madrid over the past week, looks like the Spainard’s are still recovering from the Irish invasion. Just hope they will be now better prepared for return trips to Alicante in May & World Masters T & F Champs in Malaga in Sept. All joking aside, looks like a wonderful & magical trip & a very impressive medal tally accumulated as well, 8 Gold, 13 Silver & 8 Bronze to finish 11th Nation overall, in what was a very competitive Championship.


Double Gold for Joe Gough M65 800m & 1500m plus likewise for Masters debutant, Sean Breathnach M35, Shot & Discuss. Snezana Bechtina, W35, 400m, Jackie Carthy W45, 5k CC, Geraldine Finegan W50, Pentathlon & Jim O’Shea M75 Long Jump.


Ind. Silver for the following; Tommy Payne M60, 3000m, Jackie Carthy W45, 3000m, Sean McMullin M70, 3000m TW & 5km Road Walk, Denise Toner W35, 1500m & Mary Leech W40, 1500m.


Ind. Bronze for Dorothy McLennan W80 60m & 200m, Annette Quaid W40, 800m, Catherine Diver W40, 1500m, Cathal McLoughlin M50, 1500m & Geraldine Finegan 60m hurdles.


Team Silver  for W35 & W40 5km CC, W40 & W45 5k race walk, plus M35, M40 & M45 5k CC. Team Bronze for M35 4 x 200m  & M505k CC.
