A fabulous return home by Irish Master Athletes from World Masters T & F Champs which ended in Malaga last weekend, with a grand total of 28 medals, including 4 gold. Indeed it was double gold for Joe Gough M65 over 800m & 1500m, with Kelly Neely F40 also achieving a double in the 800m & 1500m, plus anchoring the F40 team in the 4 x 400m to a well deserved silver medal. Other  individual doubles were achieved by Snezana Bechtina F35 silver 400m & bronze 200m  Carmel Crowley F50 silver in the 8km CC & bronze in 10km road race, Anne Gilshinan F50, 800m & 1500m, Sinead McConnell F50, 5000m track RW & 10km RW, & Geraldine Finegan F50, Heptathlon & Pole Vault. Given the success of all involved, the appetite is whetted, with interest already growing for World Masters Indoor Champs, which will be held in Torun, Poland from 24ththrough to 30th March 2019. As the track season has now drawn to a close, attention turns to the CC season. Abbottstown will  host the AAI Autumn CC which will once again incorporate trial race for selection of Master Athletes for British & Irish Masters CC Champs. Welsh Masters will host this years event in Swansea on Sat  17th Nov. Will post more details over the next few weeks.
